Description
The project involves the detailed design and construction monitoring of the upgrade to National Route 3, Section 2, from Hammarsdale (km 8.825) to Cato Ridge (km 20.400). Key works include widening the existing road from three to four lanes with additional climbing lanes where required, reconstructing the pavement, and increasing the road reserve to accommodate the expanded roadway. Safety and structural improvements comprise median barrier walls, outside retaining walls, reconstruction of one bridge, widening of two underpasses, and enlargement of major and minor culverts. Additional works include cut widening for improved sight distance, temporary traffic deviations, opening and operation of a hard-rock quarry for aggregate production, material stockpiling, rehabilitation of the R103 as an alternative route, and provision of streetlighting, all aimed at enhancing traffic flow, safety, and infrastructure durability.
